Site 5 with shower tree
We stayed in camp 5 with the shower tree and we loved it, our 3 kids had a small fire and cooked marshmallows while my wife and I enjoyed a stunning sunset, all kinds of animals everywhere and if your lucky you will meet July the friendly cow who comes over for a pat. Heather is a very friendly host and very helpful we will definitely be back for another stay.

Camping at Catninga
Heather greeted us at the homestead and was very helpful getting us situated. The site itself was as described and had very nice views down the hill toward the Port Augusta wind farms and solar farm. Heather and Brian took us up into the hills behind the property to see the amazing views and show us a few points of interest on the property. We had a great time and would recommend camping here to anyone who wants a stop over near Port Augusta or who loves getting out into the outback.

“Do yourself a favour and don't stay in Port Augusta and stay at the wonderful Catninga its just up the road. So glad we did. Old railway carriage has so much character and well appointed. The walk up through the gully behind carriage and then beyond to Mt Brown is one of our favourite walks now. Stunning views of the flinders ranges and spencer gulf. Great communication with Heather the host. If we were ever nearby we would love to stay again.”

Catninga Station is a special slice of the outback. Even though our stay was brief, we enjoyed the beautiful sunset, emu and kangaroo encounters and the warm welcome of our hosts Heather and Brian. The accommodation was cosy and clean and the Station's chooks provided us with beautiful free range eggs we had for our breakfast.

Our family of 4 stayed at Catninga Hut on lovely Heather & Brian's Catninga Station. At the base of Mt Brown, along the Hysen Trail, it is a piece of paradise. The 4WD trip to get to the hut was magnificent. Saw cows, kangaroos, emus, goats, eagles, lizards, kookaburras & stars galore at night. The property is beautiful with gorgeous gums and hills, even views of the ocean to Port Augusta. The hut has everything you need but think of Robinson Crusoe. We loved the experience and will certainly be back.

"So glad we came here to celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary. Lovely place, lots of character, stunning scenery and beautiful sunsets. Not to mention the wonderful hosts! Thanks so much Brian and Heather for the great and interesting chat and for sharing and showing your magnificent property!

"Thanks so much for your hospitality and delightful use of your train carriage in such a beautiful setting.
So nice to enjoy the peace and quiet and take in the magnificent views our Heavenly Father has created for our enjoyment.
Was lovely to have a little shower of rain and we hope there's more to come. The scenery is such an amazing contrast to the hills, mountains and rainforests of Tassie. Enjoyed all the wildlife as well as your beautiful horses and we look forward to beef supplies also. Thanks for the chats and we wish you every success for future ventures. Much appreciation"

"What a stunning setting for weary travellers to stop!
So very peaceful and a spectacular sunset. Loved 'happy hour' on the verandah enjoying the view, and your great company! Also love the cottage so full of character and unique but full of comfort and light and bright. Just wish we could linger longer! Thanks for having us at Catninga - highly recommend! We'll see you again!"

"A fantastic stay with Heather & Brian! A magnificent place, Catninga is an exceptionally special place to enjoy this beautiful landscape. Heather & Brian are fantastic hosts with knowledge and love of the local area which they are happy to share. The railway cabin has everything you would need for a comfortable nights sleep and home cooked food is delicious. The jewel in the crown is the 4wd tour which we would encourage all stayers to take. The drive to Catninga Hut is breathtaking and the walk to the top of Mt Brown is rewarded with a stunning view of the surrounding area. A thoroughly enjoyable place with hosts that we could spend hours with, listening to their yarns of rural experience. Thank you Heather and Brian!"

"Thank you Heather and Brian for sharing this amazing property with us for the past three days. Had a wonderful trip to Catninga Hut and a walk to the summit Mt Brown followed by a great BBQ lunch. Saturday had a quiet day on the flat. Walked to the soak, fed the chooks and goats and finished with a camp oven dinner. Thank you again, even the bed enveloped us with a comfortable sleep."

"Beautiful, amazing, awesome experience - the whole 3 days was without doubt one of our best holidays ever. Thank you so much Heather & Brian for the chance to enjoy this magnificent part of the world. We cannot wait to plan our next trip up here."

"Thank you for a fantastic trip. We stayed for three nights and enjoyed the beautiful winter weather and hospitality of Heather and Brian. Our hike up to Mount Brown was eventful but fortunately the only sacrifice was Chris's hat that blew off! We ate like kings thanks to the excellent cooking by Heather and Brian and particularly enjoyed our camp fire stew and the 4x4 trip lunch at the shed. Thanks for making this a memorable trip away, will be back!"
